The learners in Vietnam

As an educator, I find traveling in Vietnam inspirational. I often meet young people who are interested in sharing their knowledge and learning from each other. A few days back someone from Nha Trang (a beach side town in Central Vietnam) contacted me and asked me how I run some meetups. She said that she was a student and she wanted to run a similar meetup in her city where people can learn new things from each other. I sent her some photos and and some plans that I use. I was surprised when she told me that she is just sixteen years old.

The learners in Vietnam

This is something I find impressive in Vietnam. Many young people are not afraid of strangers. Also I guess that the availability of a safe third place - the huge number of cafes help them connect with people that they do not know yet. When I was in Nha Trang, the student invited me to join their meetup. I was impressed by their ability to organise , and also the interesting topics they discussed. When I grow up, I wish I could be as smart as them.
