The heat in Nanchang

Call me a stickler for punishment, I decided to visit one of the hottest place in China in Summer.

In Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province. I remember some years back I was in eastern China. I mentioned to a friend that I want to visit Jiangxi. He scoffed and relayed my travel wish to his mother who was nearby. Her face turned into shock. She said Jiangxi is a rough place and I should avoid that place.

I found Nanchang friendly. There are not so many tourists here so I get a good chance to talk to people. The heat limits the time you spend outdoors though. Everyone is trying to hid in the shade.

Spicy Gan food. Gan is the short form of Jiangxi. This is spicy fish. The fine powder on time is ground peppercorn.

Rice with date.

And if that was not enough, I tried some spicy good. Jiangxi food is one of the spiciest food in China.

Thankfully they have a locally brewed Nanchang beer to cool things down.
