ASUS EEE PC first impressions
I have been trying out this ASUS EEE PC for the last couple of days. Been using Skype and Open office. I am really impressed with this linux based PC. It is a perfect notebook for travel.
Asus EEPC compared to a 15inch MacBook Pro and Ipod Touch.
First Impressions
1. Price - Amazing low price. They will sell thousands of these in countries where a regular laptop is too expensive.
2. Build - Really good build quality. Seems very solid and durable. Looks good too.On some
3. Connection - Built in Wi-fi and I was able to connect to my 3G network via the HSDPA modem without any driver software.
4. The keyboard is better than some other sub notebooks I have used. I typed couple of documents using the Openoffice software and it feels comfortable. Those used to bigger keyboards might need couple of weeks to get used to the keyboard on EEE PC.
5. Great for Skyping. Skype is pre-installed and works great.
6. Tried running on battery and it gave me 3+ hours with wi-fi on for about one hour.
7. I can slot a SD card from the camera into the EEE PC and upload the pictures on to Flickr via the software provided.
8. The left and right button on the track pad are a bit hard. I found an external USB mouse was more comfortable.
9. On some software the menus take up too much screen space, leaving about 60 to 70% actual workspace. I would like to see better designed software for such smaller screens. I still prefer the iPod Touch for casual browsing and YouTube watching.
