06 Mar 07 Outsourcing the Monitoring of Copyright Violations

We have heard of Japanese content people getting youtube to block videos that violate copyrights. With huge numbers of videos uploaded everyday, it is not humanly possible for rights owners to identify copyrights violators. Seems some enterprising people have set up this service in Thailand where they hire native Japanese speakers (Thailand has decent number of Japanese expats) to identify videos that might be suspect.

“Site Guardians” is a new outsourcing service that uses native Japanese
people in Thailand to monitor websites like Youtube or Google Video to
check if the posted contents violate copyrights.
Their advantage is lower manpower cost.
They can even provide 24hrs monitoring upon request.

I’ve read somewhere MTV is trying to put some action on the video clips on YouTube that carries their logo.
