An interesting online service to emerge recently is Slideshare. As the name suggest this service enables users to share presentations online. Here is a Powerpoint presentation that I uploaded to Slideshare a couple of days back.
To sign up, go to www.slideshare.net.

Once you are signed in, you can use the “Upload” tab to load your presentation file. Slideshare accepts PowerPoint (.ppt and .pps files) & OpenOffice (.odp files).

One thing to remember is in the current release of Slideshare, the presentations are public.

After the presentation is uploaded, slideshares processes your file to optimise it for online use.

Now your presentation is ready to be used online.

You can see all your uploaded presentation by clicking on the My Slidespace tab. Click on the presentation that you want to show and it is played back on Slideshare’s site. Other Slideshare users can also leave comments about your presentations.

Once you see the presentation, you can even click on the “full” button at the bottom right to make it full screen.

Slideshare offers you a piece of code that you can stick on to your blog or web site. You visitors can then run your presentations directly from your site.

Preetam,
I am from the Slideshare team.
Thanks for the visually compelling blog post about Slideshare.
Just as a note, privacy options will be introduced in the next release.

Hi Preetam,
thanks for this post! Slideshare is really cool and I’m planning to see if I can use this for class presentations and stuff.
