Take a look at this train snack from a place called Mori in Hokkaido, Japan. It is called Ika ï¼eshi.

Yes, That is squid (ika) stuffed with something and sealed at the ends with the stick. What is it stuffed with?
Here is Ika Meshi cut in half.

It has rice inside. The rice is stuffed inside and then the whole thing is simmered in sauce.

The word in the white on top ã„ã‹ reads ika and below that the ã‚ã—reads meshi. The line in the middle in blue talks about the place ika meshi is from - 森 -Mori. Check out the last station from this list of stations in Hokkaido. More pictures of Mori station at Japanese Wikipedia.

They were selling these at about S$5 a squid during a ‘Hokkaido Fair’ at Tampines Mall last month. And I think Medi-Ya stocks them in vacuum packed plastic bags that you had to dunk into boiling water to heat up.
