09 Jun 06 South Korean Rock Show in North Korea
This is South Korean rock group Shinhwa. They are very popular in South Korea and also in China and some South East Asian countries.
These screen grabs are from a video of a concert held in North Korea.
I couldn’t believe that North Korea allowed such seemingly western influenced band to play in front of North Koreans. The caption does say that the show was held in Pyongyang.
Occasionally the video zooms into the well dressed and sober audience. The audience reaction is priceless.
The women are all dressed in traditional hanbok and most of the faces look as if they don’t approve of such music.
The woman in the left seems interested while the women on the right is probably glad that she didn’t bring her kids along.

I think this is a great approach towards “uniting” both Koreas somehow. By erasing the idea that US Imperialism exists in South Korea, such hatred between each other will diminish. I, as a Korean, wish for this to happen.
Thanks Oso and Elliot for the comment. Yes, greater interaction between the two Koreas help but I wonder if the North Koreans really want their people to know about the real situation in the South.
wow! they did perform at North Korea. That’s pretty amazing i am doing a project on South Korea. But ive seen other Korean singers and for me i am not a big fan of shinwa but i think some guys in there are terrific singers though. But there all right i like kwonsangwoo more or bi rain, se7ven i love korean movies. Now to talk about Korean I like to come visit korea. Do you know how to say my name in korean could you send it to me because i need it for a project and i want to know my name. Thank you!

well i think n. korean needs to experience more of the western life styles like south korean too.. cux north korean are way behind, accroding to me. because i watch the shadow of north korean and gosh i dont want to be mean but they are way behind…
well, when you love the korean stars and singers that doesnt mean that you will or want to spend the rest of your life in south korea and south korea is like the most beautiful country in the world. again, i dont want to be mean but yeah maybe to visit south korea but live then, dude you need to know the language before head over there. me, i think i am pretty good with thai but i am still scard..
