Down here in Vietnam not far from Cambodian border you can go vegetable shopping on the river.

From far you can see these boats and a pole rising up with vegetables hung on them.

The pole usually displays the vegetables that the seller has in stock.



Some of the vegetable sellers live on the river in their boats.

While we were looking for vegetables, this vegetable seller was more interested in chicken.

No..ended up eating fish in the end. I like the pole display idea too. Got curious to go into the river to investigate after I saw the poles.
Nice pics. Lovely idea that pole inventory thing! Couldn’t help noticing though that the boat looks dangerously close to capsizing based on the closeness of the rim to the water level! Amazing that it actually stays afloat!
You must be pretty near the Tonle Sap Lake. Indeed the floating markets are a pretty sight, but the abject poverty coloured my memories. I hope I can return someday, and not just as a tourist.
