04 Apr 06 Evidence of Chinese influence in Myanmar??

India and many western powers are worried about the increasing Chinese influence in Burma. I found this evidence at a Burmese book shop.

The excitement was short-lived though. The princess informed me that the publishing boom includes Harry Potter books too. Korean soap operas are hot. If you are looking to buy some gifts for your hosts in Burma, they will surely appreciate a box VCD set of the latest Korean drama .

   Given the choice between “The Wisdom of Confucius”, Harry Potter, and Korean dramas, I think I’d go for the kdramas too.
