21 Mar 05 Students in China protest the blocking of BBS

Students are protesting against restrictions to some of the popular Bulletin Board Systems in China. These bulletin boards hosted by Tsinghua University, Peking University and Nanjing University can only be accessed from inside the campus. People from outside who contributed actively are not able to participate any more.

Seems like a really silly decision to block the BBSs. Expect a lot of discussions happening on these BBSs to move to Blogsphere.

Also, some sort of tag activism is going on, people are blogging and flickring about this with the “smth” tag.

The Communist Youth newspaper Juventud Rebelde dedicated its front page to the Cuban president, printing a blown-up picture of a pensive Castro with the title “Always fighting for something, and fighting with optimism!”
