Demand for KFC Soaring in China

Yahoo! News - Demand for KFC Soaring in China

China's relentless appetite for the colonel's chicken has KFC on a building boom in the world's most populous country, with 1,200 locations, soaring profits and a menu that mixes in bamboo shoots and lotus roots.

Well, we can attest to it. The KFC near our place used to be packed. And the strange thing was that there was another KFC just across the street and that was also full. Sometimes I used to seek refuge inside the KFC and read, it was warmer inside.
This was my favourite order.

It reads lao (=old) bei jing (=Beijing) ji (=chicken) rou(=meat) ?? uughh the last character I can't read (help!! jacky, oyu anyone..) But you can see from the bottom part of that character that it means roll. Well that is what it is, it is a roll - chicken in lovely sauce wrapped in a roti or tortilla.

The last character is juan3, meaning (of course) "roll".

Incredible. I hope they make better KFC back in the motherland than here in Canada. The fries are so disgusting here, and low sales volume means that freshness is suspect.

Does this mean China eventually be the Fat China?

Thanks Kelvin and Oyu for the translation. And Mr, Bargains, yes there is worry that China may become fat China. But making China fat will be profitable for a lot of regions that export food to China. The best way to offset the loss of manufaturing jobs that have gone away to China.
